The Role

We at Eversheds Sutherland value fresh ideas, personal drive, enjoy working as a team and achieving goals together – the Senior HR Advisor we are looking for will be part of a strong and ambitious local and European team, will provide generalist HR advice across our locations in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and will equally support firmwide project and a spectrum of other exciting HR activity.

Key responsibilities

Support the Senior HRBP Europe and Lead HRBP Netherlands and Belgium in the definition and delivery of the HR strategy for the Practice Groups in Amsterdam and Rotterdam, in line with the people strategy including learning & development, diversity & inclusion and recruitment

  • Advise partners and line managers on performance management, career planning and advancement, workforce planning, project and change management
  • Explore and advise on team structures to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Support the business in driving and managing change effectively
  • Coach partners and line managers, act as a trusted advisor, not just on people issues but on business decisions and direction – when providing advice, always ensure employment legislation is balanced alongside a commercial approach
  • Monitoring, measuring and reporting on HR issues, opportunities and development plans and achievements, through HR data analytics, to enable fact based decision making
  • Influencing reward decisions effectively within the practice group, ensuring compliance with the firmwide reward approach and fairness & consistency of decision making
  • Coordinating the salary review & bonus allocation process for the relevant teams, taking accountability for ensuring that decisions are accurately captured and processed
  • Working with partners to develop talent and succession plans, working to ensure that the diversity profile of the practice groups is in line with the firms objectives for inclusivity
  • Deliver training sessions to line managers on all relevant aspects of the HR annual cycle
  • Manage vacancy approval and support on recruitment for approved roles using market and team knowledge with the support of the European recruitment team
  • Manage the onboarding of all external candidates from induction planning onwards

Eisen

  • Successful candidates will have at least 3-5 years of experience in a generalist HR role, ideally from an international corporate law firm and thus be experienced in working in a large and complex international organization – ideally your experience will include exposure to organizational development and change management
  • We are looking to add a team member with good practical experience in a generalist HR role and thus an understanding of the complexity of the various fields of HR work and their interfaces
  • In addition, we are looking for someone with strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with our various employee groups
  • You have a hand-on approach and are willing and able to cover operative tasks from a broad variety of HR fields and equally drive forward strategic projects – thus you bring to the table an open mind and think in a connected way, not in silos
  • Well-developed commercial acumen, along with the ability to contribute to the wider business and HR agenda is beneficial
  • You will have a track record of motivating and influencing others, using an empathetic, pragmatic and data based approach
  • Good IT skills
